Janet was originally born in Florida and now reside in North Georgia. At an early age, she was constantly creating and knew at an early age she wanted to pursue art as her career.

As she developed in her artistic style, Janet took a quick liking to drawing/painting horses and dogs. Something about their personalities and manner inspired her to capture them in her work. Nature has also heavily influenced Janet’s work and she enjoys Plein air painting as well. She is drawn to various sceneries like streams, rivers, mountains, woods, wildlife, and so much more. The movement and colors that are displayed in nature are breathtaking. Her intent is to capture nature and the beauty it holds so that it may also strike a chord with others.

In & out of the studio

Janet has converted part of her home to be a functioning studio. She likes to start her day in the studio with music. As Janet begins her pieces, she studies her reference photo to become familiar with her subject. Janet then preps her surface to begin sketching her subject and uses the reference photo as a guide throughout the process.

When Janet is not in her studio or creating, she spends time with her family and loved ones. She is often traveling and taking adventures to find new places as well as inspirations. The country lifestyle has influenced her artwork through time spent on the farm, horseback riding, and taking care of the animals. Janet is always being inspired by nature and life itself.

Janet’s Artist Statement

I'm driven in my work to capture the inspiration of my subject and support it with the excitement of color, texture, and brushwork. With a variety of components in my paintings, my desire is to represent not just a moment but an experience in my work that visually captivates the viewer. As I incorporate values, various hues, and textures, the intent is for all the components to work together in harmony to tell a story without words. I consistently work to sharpen and develop my techniques in my work to better define the story I am conveying in a realistic form.
